In the spotlight: Jardan chosen to supply Science and Engineering Centre at QUT
Melbourne furniture maker Jardan was recently chosen to supply a variety of colourful and contemporary GECA certified pieces for many common areas in the Science and Engineering Centre at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The Centre is a premier research base for science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the heart of Brisbane.
Jardan supplied a range of Level A GECA certified products including the Horizon and Milo sofas, Kelly and Ned armchairs and Coast ottomans. All of these products are certified fully-upholstered and are made with high-resilience GECA certified foams and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) certified hardwood-ply frames. Jardan’s Melbourne factory has ISO 14001 certification for its Environmental Management Systems.
“Employing the philosophy of making small, meaningful changes every day, we aim to create big impact over time,” said Andy Collins, Design Assistant at Jardan. “We believe in making locally, acting mindfully and minimising all waste and by-product. It’s about taking responsibility.
“We now have the framework and procedures in place, as well as the required determination to holistically manage the supply chain and production footprint for every product.”
“GBCA Green Star projects are a fantastic way of promoting environmentally aware developments that benefit all parties involved. Jardan is committed to the advertisement of eco-labelling as a means of encouraging sustainable practice,” said Collins.
Jardan has just opened two flagship stores in Sydney and Melbourne, which enable its GECA certified products to be available to the public.
