Auditors of the GECA program

JAS-ANZ (Joint Accreditation System ANZ) is the government-appointed accreditation body for Australia and New Zealand. It is responsible for providing accreditation of conformance assessment bodies (CABs) in the fields of certification and inspection.

CABs are independent auditing firms who are qualified to assess and verify the conformance of products and services against GECA's environmental standards. As independent CABs, they have no commercial interest in the manufacture or commercial performance of the products or services under assessment.

Accreditation by JAS-ANZ demonstrates the particular competence and independence of a CAB.

The GECA Scheme is the only ecolabel in Australia that requires all auditors performing conformance assessments to be accredited by JAS-ANZ to do so.

Two CABs — both JAS-ANZ accredited — currently audit the GECA scheme:
